Notice writing is one of those formats that English teachers test across almost every class level — and blood donation camps are a favourite topic. Probably because they are civic, they are seasonal, and they work for both school and college contexts.
This page has five ready-to-use samples. They cover different scenarios: a school notice from the principal's office, a college NSS notice, a residential society notice, a corporate office notice, and a general hospital notice. Each follows the standard notice writing format.
The standard format for a notice in Indian board exams and real use:
[Name of Institution / Organisation]
NOTICE
[Date]
[Heading / Title in CAPITALS]
[Body — 4 to 5 sentences covering: Who is organising? What is it? When? Where? Who should participate? Any conditions?]
[Name and Designation of the person issuing the notice]
Keep notices short. They are not letters or essays. The point is to communicate essential information quickly and clearly.

Too long. A notice is not a letter. If your notice is longer than 100–120 words, you are probably including information that belongs in an announcement or circular, not a notice. Cut it.
Missing the date. Always include the date the notice is issued — not the date of the event. Both are needed: the date of writing and the date of the event.
Vague heading. "Blood Donation" is too vague. "Voluntary Blood Donation Camp — 20 September 2025" is better. The heading should tell the reader immediately what the notice is about.
Forgetting the name and designation. The notice must be signed with the full name and designation of the person issuing it. "Secretary" or "Principal" without a name is incomplete for board exam purposes.
Long paragraphs. Keep body text in 4–5 clear sentences. The reader should be able to scan the notice in 20 seconds and know when, where, what, and who it is for.
