Description

What began as one act of helping someone in urgent need turned into a lifelong mission for Tarun Dhiman. Starting with a single donation, he went on to build a growing network of donors across Himachal Pradesh, inspiring many along the way. Today, with 37 donations and a thriving community behind him, his journey shows how one step can grow into a powerful, life-saving movement.

Tarun Dhiman's Story

From a Single Step to a Lifesaving Movement Donated blood 37 times so far.

There are moments in life that quietly shape who we become. For me, that moment came when someone approached me in urgent need of blood. I was not even fully 18 at the time, just a little short of the legal age, but the call of humanity felt stronger than any rule. Without hesitation, I stepped forward and did what I could to help. That single act didn’t just save a life, it changed mine forever.

The Beginning of a Lifelong Commitment

On my 19th birthday, I made a decision: to celebrate my life by helping save another. I visited the hospital, donated blood, captured the moment in a photograph, and shared it on Facebook. What seemed like a simple post turned into something far more meaningful. One of my friends was deeply inspired. He told me he would do the same on his birthday, eight months later. When that day arrived, I joined him, not just as a donor, but as a friend offering a unique birthday gift: the gift of life. That day marked the beginning of something bigger than both of us.

When a Small Group Became a Lifeline

Our actions began inspiring others. Slowly, more friends joined us, and a small group of donors was formed. We regularly visited hospitals, ready to donate whenever needed. There were days when hospitals told us that blood supply was sufficient, and our donations were not required at that moment. Instead of turning us away completely, they took our contact numbers. Soon, we started receiving calls during emergencies, and we always responded. That’s when we realized: this was no longer just about occasional donations. We were becoming a lifeline.

The Birth of a Community

To stay connected and organized, we created a WhatsApp group. What started as a small circle quickly grew into a network of committed individuals willing to step forward in times of need. The group became a platform not just for coordination, but for inspiration. People joined not because they had to but because they wanted to make a difference.

Joining Hands for a Bigger Cause

As our efforts expanded, we connected with Kangra Saviours in district Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. This collaboration gave our mission a stronger foundation and wider reach. Working together, we were able to organize better, respond faster, and serve more people in need.

Expanding Across Himachal Pradesh

We soon realized that one group in Kangra was not enough. The need for blood donors exists everywhere. Driven by this understanding, we took the initiative to form similar groups across Himachal Pradesh. What started as a personal effort had now transformed into a growing movement, spreading awareness, building networks, and saving lives across regions.

Recognition and Milestones

Our dedication and collective efforts did not go unnoticed. Under the banner of NIFAA India, we worked on impactful campaigns like Samvedana-1 and Samvedana-2. These initiatives brought us national and international recognition, including entries in the World Book of Records and the World Record of Excellence. But more than awards, what truly matters is the number of lives touched and saved.

More Than Donation, A Responsibility

Blood donation is not just an act, it is a responsibility. It is a reminder that even the smallest step can create ripples of change. From one donor to a group, from a group to an organization, and from a region to an entire state, this journey has shown me the power of collective humanity.

A Message to Everyone

You don’t need a big platform to start something meaningful. Sometimes, all it takes is one decision, to help. Because somewhere, someone is waiting. And you could be the reason they get a second chance at life.
